Nvidia’s RTX Spark platform puts pressure on PCIe 6.0 SSD roadmaps

The next generation of AI-focused PCs is not only about GPUs. Tom's Hardware reports that Silicon Motion sees Nvidia as one of the forces pushing PCIe 6.0 SSD planning for client systems, especially around platforms such as RTX Spark.

The move shows how local AI workloads change the hardware balance. Larger models, long context, multimodal data and persistent agents increase pressure on memory and storage. In that setting, the SSD becomes part of the application data path rather than just a place to load files from.

This does not mean broad consumer adoption is immediate. PCIe 6.0 in PCs is likely to appear first in advanced systems before reaching lower-cost machines. Still, the signal is clear: local AI computing is pushing the bandwidth discussion beyond the GPU.
