Report points to possible Intel return to DDR4 systems with Raptor Lake Next

A report suggests Intel may extend the life of the LGA 1700 platform with Raptor Lake Next chips and DDR4 support in 2027.

A new report suggests Intel may prepare a line called Raptor Lake Next, keeping compatibility with the LGA 1700 socket and DDR4 memory. If confirmed, the strategy would extend the life of a familiar platform and could serve entry-level PCs and lower-cost upgrades in 2027.

The key technical point is continuity. New platforms often require a new motherboard and different memory, while DDR4 support makes it possible to reuse components and reduce upgrade cost. That does not mean the architecture would be Intel’s most advanced option, but it could make sense in price-sensitive segments.

Because the information still depends on market reporting, plans may change. Until Intel confirms details, it should be treated as a roadmap indication rather than a final specification. Even so, it reinforces a trend: older platforms can regain value during memory and pricing transitions.
